2nd Hand Christianity

Today at work we were talking about some of the decisions our government is making and we wondered if the lawmakers, congressmen and senators actually read the entire bill that is being proposed. We questioned how many of our representatives actually read all 1,200 pages of the Obama stimulus package.

As we discussed this we talked about how many of them probably just got bits and pieces of it from lots of different sources. We speculated that the news media was also just reporting what they "heard"rather than what they had read in the proposed bill.

Then I heard the Holy Spirit begin to speak to me.

How many of us are doing the same thing with our Christianity? How many of us have heard bits and pieces but never really dug deep into the word of God and discovered it for ourselves?

Perhaps this is why we have so many older Christians that have never made it out of the infancy stages. Perhaps this is why when the going gets tough, we just stop going.

Are you worshiping off of a 2nd hand relationship with God? If so, you need to seek and passionately pursue Him. Position yourself to hear, learn, receive and be instructed from Him.

Since I am an analogy person.... Before I was married, I had heard lots of things about marriage and how to manage my family. But until I got married, I didn't have a clue. I was informed, but did not have that relationship. God is in the relationship business not the information business.
